What we can't treat
Doctor Care Anywhere is not an emergency service. If you or someone else may be in danger, please don't wait — call 999 for life-threatening emergencies or 111 for urgent non-emergency advice.
Prescriptions we can't provide
We offer private prescriptions where clinically appropriate, but we're unable to prescribe:

controlled drugs (such as tramadol, morphine, pregabalin, or gabapentin)
-
sleeping medications (diazepam, zopiclone, melatonin)
- ongoing prescriptions for long-term conditions like asthma, depression, anxiety, fertility issues or diabetes.
Your regular GP remains the right contact for these.
External forms and documentation
We're unable to complete forms, medical certificates, reports or attestations requested by third parties, including:
- Medical certificates or letters to support external applications (e.g. visas, insurance, legal)
- Reports or forms requested in a specific format by employers, insurers or other organisations
- Attestations confirming details on someone else's behalf

Emergencies we don't treat

Acne

Athlete's foot is a common fungal infection that usually starts between the toes and can spread to the soles and sides of the feet.

Bites & Stings
Bites and stings are common skin reactions caused by insects, spiders or other animals, which can range from mild irritation to more severe reactions.
Main symptoms:
- Redness or swelling around the bite or sting
- Pain or tenderness
- Itching or irritation
- A raised lump or rash
- Warmth around the affected area
Cold Sore
Cold sores are small fluid-filled blisters caused by the herpes simplex virus, usually appearing around the mouth or lips.
Main symptoms:
- Tingling, itching or burning sensation before the sore appears
- Small painful blisters around the lips or mouth
- Crusting or scabbing as the sore heals
- Redness or swelling around the affected area
- Pain or discomfort when eating or drinking
- Fever or swollen glands in some cases
Dandruff and scalp conditions
A flaky, itchy scalp is often dandruff, but it can also be caused by other skin conditions such as psoriasis, eczema or a fungal infection.
Main symptoms:
- White or yellowish flakes in the hair or on clothing
- Itchy scalp
- Red or inflamed skin on the scalp
- Greasy or oily patches near the hairline
- Thick, silvery scales that may spread past the hairline
- Small bumps or sores on the scalp
Eczema
Eczema is a condition that causes the skin to become dry, itchy and inflamed.
Main symptoms:
- Dry or cracked skin
- Itching
- Red or inflamed patches of skin
- Soreness or irritation
- Flaky or scaly skin
- Swelling in affected areas
Fungal skin infections
Fungal skin infections happen when fungi that live on the skin multiply in warm, moist areas, causing an itchy and often contagious rash.
Main symptoms:
- Itchy, red or discoloured rash
- Flaky, scaly or cracked skin
- Ring-shaped rash with a raised edge
- Rash in skin folds, such as the groin or under the breasts
- Thickened, discoloured or brittle nails
Hair loss (Alopecia)
Hair loss, also called alopecia, is common and has several causes, including genetics, hormones, stress and autoimmune conditions.
Main symptoms:
- Gradual thinning on top of the head
- Receding hairline or thinning at the crown
- Widening of the parting
- Sudden, smooth, coin-sized bald patches
- Losing more hair than usual when brushing or washing
Hives
Hives are itchy, raised welts that appear suddenly on the skin. They're usually harmless and often clear up within a day or two.
Main symptoms:
- Raised, itchy welts on the skin
- Red or pink welts, which may be skin-coloured on darker skin
- Welts that turn white when pressed
- Patches that join together to form larger areas
- Welts that fade and reappear in different places
- Swelling around the eyes, lips, hands or feet in some cases
Moles
Moles are small, usually harmless growths on the skin that form when pigment cells cluster together. Most adults have between 10 and 40.
Signs to get checked:
- Uneven shape, where one half doesn't match the other
- Ragged, notched or blurred edges
- A mix of colours or shades
- Larger than 6mm across
- Changes in size, shape, colour or height
- Itching, bleeding or crusting
Rosacea
Rosacea is a long-term skin condition that mainly affects the face, causing redness, flushing and sometimes acne-like spots.
Main symptoms:
- Persistent redness across the cheeks, nose, forehead or chin
- Frequent flushing or blushing
- Small red bumps or pus-filled spots
- Visible small blood vessels on the cheeks and nose
- Burning, stinging or sensitive skin
- Dry, gritty or bloodshot eyes in some cases
Shingles
Shingles is a painful rash caused when the chickenpox virus becomes active again, usually appearing as a band on one side of the body.
Main symptoms:
- Burning, tingling or itching before the rash appears
- A painful rash on one side of the body
- Fluid-filled blisters that crust over as they heal
- Headache, high temperature or feeling generally unwell
- Rash that may look purple or dark brown on darker skin
Warts and verrucas
Warts and verrucas are small, harmless skin growths caused by a common virus. Verrucas are warts that grow on the soles of the feet.
Main symptoms:
- Firm, raised lumps with a rough surface
- Tiny black dots under the surface of the skin
- Hard, flat patches on the soles, heels or toes
- Pain when walking or standing (verrucas)
- Clusters of small growths that spread

Migraines

Sinustis

- Reduced sense of smell or taste

Urinary Tract Infections
A urinary tract infection is an infection affecting the bladder, kidneys or urinary system, usually caused by bacteria.
Main symptoms:
- Pain or burning when urinating
- Needing to urinate more often
- Sudden or urgent need to urinate
- Cloudy or strong-smelling urine
- Lower tummy pain or discomfort
Sexual Health
Chlamydia
Chlamydia is one of the most common sexually transmitted infections, caused by the bacterium Chlamydia trachomatis. Many people have no symptoms at all, but it can still be passed on and cause complications if left untreated.
Main symptoms:
- Pain or a burning sensation when urinating
- Unusual discharge from the vagina, penis or anus
- Pain or bleeding during or after sex
- Lower abdominal or pelvic pain
- Bleeding between periods (in women)
About treatment:
Chlamydia is diagnosed with a simple urine or swab test and is easily treated with a short course of antibiotics.

Genital warts are a common sexually transmitted infection caused by certain types of the human papillomavirus (HPV).
Main symptoms:
- Small flesh-coloured bumps or growths around the genitals or anus
- Itching or discomfort in the affected area
- Clusters of warts that may resemble cauliflower-like growths
STDs
STIs are infections that are usually passed from one person to another through sexual contact.
