Clinical Governance

The framework behind every consultation

Leadership and accountability

Clinical governance at Doctor Care Anywhere is led from the top, with defined clinical leadership responsible for the quality and safety of the care we deliver. Accountability doesn't stop at the point of consultation: it runs through recruitment, training, technology, and the ongoing monitoring of outcomes across our clinical team.

Standards that don't stand still

Every clinician's practice is subject to continuous oversight, from the NHS appraisal system for our GPs through to ongoing performance management across all clinical roles. Governance, for us, means a standard that's checked repeatedly over time, not signed off once and forgotten.

Assessing risk before it reaches a patient

Any new tool, process, or technology that touches patient care goes through formal assessment before it's introduced, including privacy, security, information governance, and clinical safety review. Where personal or health data is involved, this includes a Data Protection Impact Assessment (DPIA), considering matters like data retention, access controls, and how the technology is used in a live healthcare setting.

Our AI-supported clinical documentation tool is a good example of this in practice: introduced only after that full assessment process, designed so it cannot make clinical decisions, and built with ongoing monitoring to identify and manage risk as it's used.

Meeting external standards, not just our own

Our governance framework is shaped by external regulation as much as internal policy. Our processes are designed to meet the guidelines of:

  • Care Quality Commission (CQC)

  • Our information security is certified to ISO/IEC 27001

  • Our data hosted on Microsoft Azure Cloud under UK Government-accredited infrastructure and full HIPAA compliance.

  • Data protection is governed under UK GDPR and the Data Protection Act 2018, with Doctor Care Anywhere holding data controller responsibility throughout.

Working with trusted partners, held to the same standard

Where we work with third-party suppliers, such as our prescription partners or AI documentation provider, they're bound by data processing agreements and confidentiality obligations, and are contractually required to handle patient data only for the agreed healthcare purpose. Doctor Care Anywhere remains responsible for how patient data is used throughout, whoever is processing it on our behalf.

Learning from feedback

Clinical governance depends on listening to what patients tell us. Every piece of feedback and every complaint is taken seriously, reviewed, and used to inform how we operate.
