Patient Safety
Your safety is at the heart of everything we do
At Doctor Care Anywhere, delivering high-quality, trustworthy healthcare isn't just a promise – it's built into every part of how we work. From the clinicians you speak to, through to the technology behind the scenes, we hold ourselves to the highest standards of clinical governance and patient safety, so you can access care with complete confidence.
Care from fully qualified, closely monitored clinicians
Every GP you see is fully registered with the General Medical Council (GMC), holds a current licence to practise in the UK, and has at least five years' post-graduation experience. Our GPs are also monitored annually through the NHS appraisal system, the same standard used across the health service, to make sure their practice stays current and safe.
Our Advanced Clinical Practitioners (ACPs) are highly skilled clinicians who've completed postgraduate training and master's-level qualifications. Alongside our Advanced Mental Health Practitioners and Advanced Physiotherapists, they bring specialist expertise to the conditions they treat.
All our clinicians undergo bespoke training in remote consultations, and we operate rigorous recruitment, training, and ongoing performance management to ensure the quality of care never dips, whoever you see and whenever you book.
Knowing when we're the right choice – and when we're not
Doctor Care Anywhere is not an emergency service. If you think you're experiencing a medical emergency, please call 999 or 111, or go to your nearest Emergency Department.
We're upfront about the conditions we can't treat, including chest pain, suspected stroke, severe bleeding, serious injuries, and severe mental health crises such as suicidal thoughts or psychosis. Some conditions, like chest infections or long-term conditions requiring ongoing management, also need an in-person examination.
Where we can't help directly, our clinicians will always point you toward the right care, whether that's an onward referral, guidance to visit your NHS GP, or advice to seek emergency treatment.
Verifying who you are, to protect your care
Before you can book your first appointment, we verify your identity using a valid photo ID and a live selfie check. This isn't just a formality: it protects the integrity of your medical record and meets the standards set by the Care Quality Commission (CQC) for a safe, effective service. The same rigour applies to appointments for children, where we also verify proof of parental responsibility.
Responsible use of AI in your care
We use an AI-supported documentation tool, provided by Tandem, to help clinicians write up consultation notes more efficiently. It's important you understand exactly what this tool does, and doesn't do:
-
It does not diagnose conditions, recommend treatment, or make any decisions about your care.
-
Every note it drafts is reviewed, edited, and approved by your clinician, who remains fully responsible for your medical record and every clinical decision.
-
Your consultation data is never used to train AI models.
-
You can ask for it not to be used in your consultation at any time, with no impact whatsoever on the care you receive.
Your data, protected
Patient information is encrypted in transit and at rest, hosted securely on Microsoft Azure Cloud, and protected by role-based access controls, audit logging, and strict confidentiality obligations for our staff and suppliers.
We are certified to the ISO/IEC 27001 information security standard and are fully GDPR compliant. We never sell your data, and we never share it for commercial purposes.
Governed to the highest clinical standards
Behind the scenes, our services are shaped by ongoing information governance, clinical safety, and security oversight — not a one-off exercise, but a continuous process of review as our services evolve.
