What is an allergy?

Allergies can make you feel awful. The constant sneezing, runny nose, coughing and sore, red eyes  it's really unpleasant. You experience these symptoms when your immune system has an abnormal reaction to a substance that would otherwise be harmless. These substances are called allergens and they're found in everyday items in our environment.
