Speedy prescription service

Our GPs can prescribe the medication you need during your consultation. Depending where you are, you can then choose how to get your medicine. You can:

  • Get it delivered to your door the same day (4 hours within London, next day rest of UK, Monday to Friday)
  • Pick it up from your nearest local pharmacy within the UK
  • Keep a note of all your prescriptions on your patient record to access whenever you need to

International prescription

If you’re outside the UK, we can advise you on the best way to access prescriptions locally.

  • If you’re in Europe, you can pick up your prescription medication from your nearest local pharmacy within a couple of hours after your consultation
  • Outside of Europe, we offer a delivery service direct to wherever you’re staying (local laws permitting)
  • We can also give advice as to the best over-the-counter medication you can buy within the country you’re staying in

NHS repeat prescription service

You can also set up your NHS repeat prescriptions through Doctor Care Anywhere so you never need to worry about running out or forgetting to order again.

We have no control over what your local pharmacy will charge.

Our doctors will always try to prescribe you the most cost effective medicine and will let you know if it is going to be expensive.

As a rough guide, our UK delivered private prescriptions tend to cost less than £10 per item, including delivery.

The most common private medications we prescribe

  • Acne treatment
  • Acid reflux and heart burn medications
  • Allergy medications
  • Antibiotics for the treatment of infections of various systems
    (e.g. ear, nose and 
    throat, respiratory tract, skin, urinary tract)
  • Antiviral treatments for treatment of herpes and shingles
  • Emergency contraception pill
  • Melatonin for sleep

Private medications

  • Antipsychotics
  • Controlled drugs such as tramadol, morphine, benzodiazepines
    (sleeping tablets) 
  • CNS stimulants
    (e.g. Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder medications)
  • Medications that require clinical monitoring such as immunosuppressant (e.g. steroids)
  • Specialist prescribed drugs such as methotrexate, fertility drugs and cancer therapies
  • Strong opioid painkillers

Does your pricing include the cost of prescriptions?

While we don’t charge for writing prescriptions, specialist referral letters, fit notes or safe-to-fly notes, you will have to pay for any medicine you require. Can your GPs prescribe medication?

Yes, all of our GPs can prescribe medication and write a private prescription if this is deemed necessary during your consultation.

Can I use my prescription internationally?

If you are in the European Economic Area we can have a prescription ready to pick up in a nearby pharmacy a few hours after your appointment, Monday to Friday 9pm - 5pm UK time. In the rest of the world the doctor will advise you on the best course of action to receive the medication you need - which might be to either advise on which medication to pick up at your nearest pharmacy or put you in touch with our pharmacy partner who will deliver it from the UK, local laws permitting. Please note delivery from the UK can incur significant costs and might be subject to customs restrictions and delays.

Can I get a prescription on the NHS?

We are not able to provide NHS prescriptions. If you have a Doctor Care Anywhere subscription, then you can order NHS repeat prescriptions, which will be sent to your NHS GP for authorisation.

What is an e-prescription?

An ePrescription is an electronic prescription. The ePrescription more convenient and safe as it can only be redeemed once.

How much does a private prescription cost?

As our GPs write private prescriptions, the cost of medicines can vary to the standard NHS prescription charges.

We have no control over what your local pharmacy will charge. Some charge for fulfilling a private prescription.

Can I get my prescription medication on the same day?

If you are in any country within the European Economic Area, you should be able to get your medication on the same working day as your consultation. Whether that’s using our prescription delivery service or arranging to pick up your prescription from your local pharmacy, we will do our best to get you the right medicine, fast. Can I get a repeat prescription on the NHS?

If you have a Doctor Care Anywhere subscription, then you can order NHS repeat prescriptions, which will be sent to your NHS GP for authorisation.

Will my local pharmacy accept an ePrescription?

Currently, we have agreements in place in the UK with Tesco Pharmacy, Day Lewis and Rowlands Pharmacy, who both accept ePrescriptions. We are working with more pharmacy chains and independent pharmacies to ensure that these ePrescriptions are accepted more widely. If you are out of the country, we can send your prescription to your nearest local pharmacy or have your medication delivered directly to you.
