Our doctors

Frequently asked

Can I get a same day appointment?

Most of our patients can get an appointment on the same day.

What else do I get apart from GP appointments?

Lots. As well as being able to choose appointment times to suit you, our GPs can write private prescriptions which you can have delivered to your door in the UK or pick up from your local pharmacy.

Following a thorough consultation, our GPs can also write specialist referrals and fit notes which are then uploaded to your patient record for you to share with specialists, insurance companies and other healthcare professionals.

With 24/7 access to your medical record, you can also take more control of your health and wellbeing by using our Health Tracker to monitor symptoms, conditions and lifestyle factors affecting your health. You can also order NHS repeat prescriptions, set medication reminders and create charts of your progress to share with your doctor.

As a growing business, we’re always asking our patients what other things we can do to help them manage their health better.

By being responsive and not prescriptive, we’re constantly developing and building new additional services to fit our patients’ needs.

In the UK, we’re currently developing tools to integrate with the NHS medical database and allow in-person GP appointments as well as developing specialist services like nutritional coaching, mental health support and lactation consultants. There’s so much in the pipeline and we’re really excited about what’s coming up.

Can I speak to a doctor when I am abroad?

You can speak to one of our doctors wherever you are in the world. We can also send prescriptions anywhere in the world, outside of the USA, and advise you on the best over-the-counter medicine for whichever country you’re in.

Will Doctor Care Anywhere keep a record of my conversation with the doctor?

All of your interactions on Doctor Care Anywhere are accessible to you at any time. From your consultation notes, bookings, referrals, fit notes, and anything else you may have uploaded will be stored on your secure and confidential record. You can also download your consultation notes, referral letters and fit notes as a PDF and share with your NHS GP, insurer, employer and other healthcare professionals.

Can I use the service if I am hard of hearing?

Yes, absolutely. However, if you suffer from hearing difficulties, we recommend that you book video rather than telephone appointments. We've found that people who are heard of hearing often benefit from video consultations as they allow patients to watch their GP speak, which can help users with lipreading abilities.

We also offer a typing option in video appointments that allows you to communicate with your GP via a keyboard. All advice, guidance and self-management recommendations are then published in your appointment notes, along with patient information leaflets and supporting links to other helpful information. This is all uploaded to your account approximately four hours after your consultation and is accessible anytime.

Depending on the outcome of your consultation, you may receive an ePrescription, saving you the hassle of arranging a medication collection at a pharmacy. Your prescription will be available directly from your account after your consultation. Depending on your location, you can then arrange to have your medication delivered to your door or sent to any of our participating pharmacies so you can pick it up at your convenience.

Can I use the service is I am visually impaired?

Yes, please do! For visually impaired patients, we recommend calling our Patient Experience team on 0330 088 4980 who will be able to assist you in booking a telephone consultation. At the time of your appointment, your GP will call you and consult with you over the phone.

Should you require any follow-up care, such as prescriptions or specialist referrals, our Patient Experience team will call you after your consultation to explain how to best access your treatment and book any follow-up care.
